Biography

Alex Brandon is the Chief White House Photographer for the Associated Press in Washington. He joined the AP in February of 2006. He was part of the AP team that received the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography. Previously, he was on the staff of The Times-Picayune in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. His coverage was included in the newspaper’s 2006 Pulitzer prizes for Community Service and Breaking News Reporting for Hurricane Katrina and the aftermath.

On assignment, Alex Brandon has traveled to Mount Everest, covered several Super Bowls, Final Four basketball tournaments, presidential campaigns, embedded with troops in Afghanistan and is a veteran traveler with the White House, State Department, and Department of Defense.

A graduate of the University of Missouri, he has worked in Little Rock, San Diego, New York, New Orleans and Washington.
